Borussia Mönchengladbach will face Bayer Leverkusen on 23/08/2024. The match will take place at 8.30 pm at Borussia-Park (Gladbach).

It is the opening match of the new 2024/25 Bundesliga season and, as usual, the German champions will kick things off with a cracker. It's the Rhineland derby between Borussia Mönchengladbach and Bayer Leverkusen.

Gladbach did their duty in the cup at the weekend and won 3:1 in and against Erzgebirge Aue.

An expected victory. And Bayer Leverkusen? Well, they've done it again. Once again, Leverkusen scored decisively with 10 men shortly before the end and thus saved themselves into extra time and later into the penalty shoot-out. They then won the penalty shoot-out against Stuttgart and won their first title of the season, the Supercup. An important factor in my opinion is that they were able to keep Alonso for the coming season.

The squad hasn't changed much either. For me, there is no reason to think that Leverkusen won't be as strong as last season. Whether Leverkusen are really that strong in the end remains to be seen. There were also plenty of direct duels.

Leverkusen have won all of their last 6 games in Gladbach. Gladbach's last home win against Leverkusen was in 2018.
I expect Leverkusen to win this game and since Leverkusen is synonymous with goals, I also expect at least over 1.5 goals from Leverkusen. A simple 1:0 win for Leverkusen is of course possible, but I can't imagine it. So my tip is an away win and over 1.5 goals from Leverkusen.
