NFL: Baltimore Ravens vs. Houston Texans
NFL Tips: Baltimore Ravens at Houston Texans
The NFL has finally kicked off and my colleague Kevin has already summarised all the important information in his own article. Tomorrow we have the German basketball national team's final and then 10 hours of NFL. I will be bringing you an NFL analysis tomorrow, starting with the Baltimore Ravens and the Houston Texans. Baltimore will have a better season than last year, especially with Lamar Jackson back from injury. Houston are in a rebuilding phase and are unlikely to win much on the road.
Baltimore with a new offensive coordinator and a better offense?
You need to know that in football, there is one person in charge of the offense and one in charge of the defence, the so-called coordinators. The Ravens have brought in a new coordinator this year in the form of Todd Monken. This was supposed to be a more varied, explosive and generally more dangerous offence. Quarterback Lamar Jackson was already the MVP of this league and has probably never had better receiving corps (wide receiver + tight end).
Houston Texans in rebuild
The Texans are in what is known as a rebuild, which means that in the coming years they will be using the NFL Draft to strengthen their team, as US football is structured differently to football. With their first pick this year, Houston selected quarterback CJ Stroud from Ohio State, who will no doubt need time to settle in. Other than that, this Texan squad has a lot of holes to fill, especially in the pass rush and secondary. Houston will need a couple of years to be competitive again, and new quarterback CJ Stroud will also have his work cut out for him in his first NFL games.
My Ravens vs. Texans NFL prediction
The home advantage, the much better quarterback, the better quality of the rest of the squad are only three reasons why I expect the Ravens to win comfortably at home. I think Baltimore will end up winning by double digits and CJ Stroud will not be able to do much. There has been a lot of hype surrounding the Ravens in the preseason, and now it is time to turn that hype into action.
