Remember 27.05.2023. Dortmund had it in their own hands in a home game in front of over 80,000 fans
and with hundreds of thousands more in the city in their own hands to become champions.
Their opponents were Mainz, for whom nothing was at stake in this match.

Every football fan knows how it turned out. Mainz held Dortmund to a 2:2 draw, which meant that Bayern became champions again in the parallel match.

The situation is now slightly different - Mainz urgently need the 3 points to secure their place in the league or at least the relegation places. For Dortmund, who are certain to play in the CL next season, there is absolutely nothing at stake.
