Woman stole 940,000 AUD - and gambled away the money in the Social Casino

A woman from Australia allegedly stole more than 600,000 Euro from her employer. However she did not gamble the money in a “normal“ online casino, but in a so-called social casino. Therefore at no time did she have any chance of winning real money.

Account-Manageress steals away from hospital

During the time period between 2016 and 2019, the accused, Rachel Naomi Perri carried out a total of 475 fraudulent transactions and therefore stole away from her employer. The 49-year-old Account-Manageress was working in a hospital in the Australian Tasmania. During that time the amount of money stolen by the woman came up to 940,221 AUD. When converted that comes up to nearly over 600,000 Euro. It is unclear why it took so long for those in charge to notice the theft. The Australian news portal ABC Net had reported about the case a few days ago. Only a few months ago, we had reported about a similar case, in which a travel agent from Australia defrauded her employer of nearly 630,000 USD and she gambled away the money.

“Heart of Vegas“ ruined the 49-year-old

What is special in this case, is the fact, that the female perpetrator did not gamble away the money in a “normal” online casino. Instead, she gambled excessively in a social casino, where it is not even possible to win real money. The older lady was especially taken away by the famous game “Heart of Vegas“. This inviting effective game is marketed under the slogan “best casino game in Vegas-Style 2021“.

The users must first acquire tokens for real money to be able to use this game and other games in the social casino. During the actual games they can however win further tokens which can then be gambled once again. As we have already said, real money can never be won here. It is even more shocking that the account manageress from Australia has gambled away more than 600,000 Euro.

Female perpetrator is said to be highly gambling addicted

The female perpetrator has allegedly gambled away all her own money and had then started to take additional loans to be able to continue playing. When she did not have enough money and several credit cards were maxed out, the woman started to steal from her employer. Here she had entered respective funds from company accounts to several credit cards in her favour. The woman is apparently still highly gambling addicted and her “prospects of getting better are limited to non-existent”. Only a few weeks ago we reported about the fact, that lorry drivers are especially prone to gambling addiction.

The female perpetrator must now answer for her actions in court. She is being accused of computer fraud of a total of 25 cases. After her arrest in November 2019 she admitted to being fully responsible for the acts she was accused of. The judgement will be heard in around a month. Since the woman was previously convicted, she can now face several years of imprisonment. Parallel to the court case, the former employer of the woman wants to initiate civil proceedings to reclaim the gambled money from the perpetrator. It remains questionable whether the former employer will get to see even a small portion of the stolen money again.

A 49-year-old woman from Australia managed to carry out several unauthorised transactions from the company accounts of her employer over a period of several years. Thus she caused damages and losses amounting to more than 600,000 Euro. The woman who is gambling addicted has gambled away the money in the social casino, where there is no possibility ever of winning real money. One can only hope that the woman undergoes gambling addiction therapy and gets her problem of addiction under control and then after she completes the prison sentence which is most probable, she can hopefully start a new life.
