Online gambling can be an entertaining and exciting pastime for young and old alike. However, in order to have lasting fun playing with real money, gamblers should also know when to stop. After all, it's no coincidence that self-discipline is one of the most important skills you should bring to this "hobby". But when is the right time to cash out your casino winnings and end the game?

In our new casino guides, for example, we asked ourselves how long you should stay on the same slot machine. In today's article, however, we want to look at the question of when casino winnings should be paid out. The fact is that there is no "chime" that indicates to the player that they should leave the game. Self-discipline is therefore of fundamental importance, especially when gambling online, in order to have a real chance of cashing out casino winnings.

When should winnings won in the online casino be paid out?

If you enter an online casino with a starting balance of €75, for example, and still have a remaining balance of €10 after half an hour, you will certainly be delighted with a sudden win of €100. But wouldn't it be time to cash out the winnings and turn your back on the online casino for the day? As always, this depends on the individual case.

In our example, the player would have a balance totalling 110 euros after winning 100 euros. Compared to the deposit amount of 75 euros, however, this "only" results in a net profit of 35 euros. Is this amount attractive enough to end the game immediately? Probably not for many. But it is precisely this moment of a "big win" that makes sense, especially psychologically, to leave the game with a good feeling and have the entire amount paid out directly.

Of course, you could continue playing with the credit balance of 110 euros. But if at the end of the casino session the entire balance has been gambled away again, the disappointment would be great. True to the proverb "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush", casino players should also be satisfied with smaller successes. Especially as the annoying player protection regulations ensure that really high winnings have become an absolute rarity. After all, the new State Treaty on Gambling (GlüStV) no longer allows progressive jackpot slots, among other things.

You should remember that there is no "chime" when a good moment has come to stop. You must decide on your own responsibility when you are satisfied with the result you have achieved and want to leave the online casino. The aim should

Self-discipline is of fundamental importance for a satisfied casino player

Basically, self-discipline is one of the most important skills that players should develop when gambling online. It is essential to control your emotions and make smart decisions. In this context, rash or impulsive decisions are almost always poison and often lead to high financial losses.

Ideally, every player should set a personal loss limit before starting to play. If this limit of, for example, 50 euros has been gambled away, self-discipline is required again so that no further deposits should be made. The money deposited should always be regarded as lost from the outset so that there is no pressure and you can relax and devote yourself to the game.

If you can no longer control your gambling behaviour and have the urge to keep playing, then you should urgently seek professional help. On GambleJoe, for example, you can find official offers of help for problematic gambling behaviour in the advice section.

The Federal Centre for Health Education (BZgA) offers free telephone counselling on gambling addiction. The hotline is available from Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and at weekends from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on 0800 1 37 27 00.
