One tourist's stay at the Las Vegas airport really paid off. Bored while waiting for his flight, he sat down in front of one of the many slot machines and tried his luck. A few seconds later, he had won more than US$1.3 million. The impressive jackpot win can be seen in a video posted on Twitter.

In April, we reported that Eurowings had resumed the popular direct flight between Munich and Las Vegas. The fact that a stay at the Las Vegas airport can be well worthwhile is demonstrated by a recent example where a tourist won exactly US$1,330,133.04 at the One-Armed Bandit. Unfortunately, no further details about the lucky winner have been released.

Win millions at Las Vegas airport

The tourist was playing on one of the many slot machines at Harry Reid International Airport to pass the time until his departure. To be precise, the million-dollar jackpot was won on 27 June in the airport's Terminal 1. The win on the Wheel of Fortune Triple Double Emeralds slot was even captured on video by an eyewitness and posted on Twitter.

IIn the video you can see the winning amount of US$1,330,133.04 light up on the one-armed bandit. The display also clearly read: "Congratulations - you have won the jackpot". The airport congratulated the winner on social media, confirming the impressive win in America's gambling capital:

"What a way to end your holiday - as a millionaire!"

Airport makes millions from slot machines

At Harry Reid International Airport alone, there are around 1,400 slot machines. These generate a profit of 40 million US dollars a year. Most of the money ($34 million) goes directly into maintaining the airport.

Back in the summer of 2021, in an article published on GambleJoe, we wondered if airport casinos were dying out. One of the issues at that time was that the only "real" casino in a German airport was closed in 2014 in Terminal B of Frankfurt Airport.
