With 19 participating countries and a top prize of 120 million euros, the EuroJackpot is the biggest lottery in Europe. This incredible sum has not been paid out for 17 draws. The next chance comes on Tuesday. What is curious is that the fact that the pot has not been cracked for so long means that there are all the more big prizes. You can find all the information here.

The EuroJackpot is on the verge of a historic record: for 17 draws now, Europe's biggest lottery (Greece has also been part of the EuroJackpot community since spring 2024) has been waiting for someone to crack prize category 1 - and for the main prize of 120 million euros to finally be paid out. If no one hits the jackpot this Tuesday, it would be the longest dry spell in the history of the lottery.

In the most recent draw last Friday, 29 November, nine players from Bavaria (3 x), Berlin, Hesse, Lower Saxony (2 x), North Rhine-Westphalia and Spain hit the second prize tier. Their reward: 3,058,396.80 euros each. This brings the number of EuroJackpot millionaires crowned in 2024 to 107 - exceeding the 100 mark for the first time in a calendar year! In addition, twelve other players from Germany, Denmark, Norway and Spain won six-figure prizes, including €215,244.70 each in the third category.

The next evaluation on Tuesday, 3 December, could bring the exciting chapter surrounding the current 120 million jackpot to an end - or leave the top prize unattained once again. One thing is certain: the chances of winning further millions are higher than ever before in view of the bulging prize pot. Participation is still possible.

What do you have to do to win the 120 million on Tuesday?

The path to the EuroJackpot dream involves simple steps:

  • You have to correctly predict 5 out of 50 numbers and an additional 2 out of 12 Euro numbers. The chance of winning the main prize in prize category 1 is 1:140 million.
  • A betting field costs 2 euros plus a processing fee. Tickets can be submitted either in the traditional way at Lotto retail outlets or conveniently online.
The deadlines are important:In stationary Lotto sales outlets, the closing times vary depending on the federal state, usually between 18:30 and 19:00 on the day of the draw. If you want to play online, you usually have a little more time, until around 19:15.

The evaluation itself then takes place at 21:00 in Helsinki.

Tip: It's even quicker with ready-made system tickets that cover several number combinations at once - ideal for anyone who wants to bet on statistical probabilities.

Will the lucky person remain as down-to-earth as the craftsman from Lower Franconia who won €2.3 million in LOTTO 6aus49 in autumn?

The fact that the jackpot has not been hit means that there are all the more big prizes: Why is that?

The EuroJackpot comprises a total of 12 prize categories in which the amounts are paid out in stages depending on the number of correct numbers and Euro numbers.

Prize class 1 is reserved for the top prize, while prize class 2 often offers amounts between two and three million euros.

But in jackpot phases like the current one, something unusual happens: half of everything that exceeds the jackpot cap of €120 million is automatically diverted to prize category 2. The result: amounts that would normally be unimaginable pile up in this prize category.

WestLotto spokesman Bodo Kemper commented to Bild.de as follows: ‘Last Friday, there were over 27 million euros in prize class 2 - almost ten times more than usual.’ This ultimately benefited nine players, eight from Germany and one from Spain, who can each look forward to more than three million euros.

  • This effect has led to another record: 35 players have already become millionaires in the current jackpot period. Otherwise, the average is only three to four.
  • One factor should not go unnoticed: Lotto fever is driving up the stakes. For comparison: when this jackpot started in October, around 40 million euros were wagered on a Friday. Last Friday it was more than 106 million euros.

Incidentally, EuroJackpot published a study in late summer of this year showing what Germans would most likely afford from a lottery win.

Conclusion

The current EuroJackpot phase is historic: 120 million euros have been waiting for a winner for 17 draws and otherwise unimaginable sums are being paid out again and again in prize category 2. With 35 new millionaires since October and over 100 million winnings this year alone, the lottery has broken all previous records. Tuesday is the next chance to become part of this extraordinary story. Real lottery fans will have long since put their strategy together.
