Novomatic AG is the second most valuable company in Austria. At least that is the result of the Austrian Brand Value Study 2024 conducted by the European Brand Institute (EBI). But which Austrian company is worth more than the billion-euro gambling group based in Gumpoldskirchen?
Within a year, the Austrian gaming giant has managed to increase its brand value by an impressive 8.7 per cent to 3.745 billion euros. Founded in 1980, the gaming group is now active in more than 120 countries worldwide and employs over 25,000 people. Just last April, we at GambleJoe reported that Novomatic AG had generated a 55 per cent increase in revenue for 2022.
Novomatic AG is the second most valuable brand company in Austria
For the 21st time, the European Brand Institute (EBI) has compiled the most sustainable and valuable companies in Austria. With a brand value of now 3.745 billion euros, the Austrian gaming group has made it to second place this year. Compared to the previous year, the brand value increased by 8.7 per cent, or around 350 million euros.
According to EBI, the most valuable brand company in Austria is Red Bull GmbH. Headquartered in Fuschl am See in the province of Salzburg, the company generated total sales of 10.6 billion euros in 2023 and employed around 18,000 people.
According to the Austrian Brand Value Study 2024, Red Bull's brand value currently amounts to an incredible 18.979 billion euros. Compared to the previous year, this corresponds to an increase in value of 3.2 per cent. But what other valuable companies are there in Austria?
- 3rd place: SPAR (brand value: 2.60 billion euros)
- 4th place: ÖBB (brand value: 2.264 billion euros)
- 5th place: Erste Sparkassen Group (brand value: 2.191 billion euros)
- 6th place: Swarowski (brand value: 2.187 billion euros)
- 7th place: Raiffeisen (brand value: 2.042 billion euros)

How was the brand value assessment carried out?
In addition to sales growth and international expansion, the innovative strength and the corporate responsibility and ESG programme were decisive for the brand value assessment.
Novomatic CEO Stefan Krenn expressed his satisfaction with the ranking of the gaming group:
"The renewed top position in the Brand Value Ranking 2024 is confirmation of the long-term success of our global brand strategy, which enables us to sustainably establish our leading position on the international markets."
