Novomatic AG announces record increase in turnover of 55 % in 2022

The Austrian gambling group Novomatic has published its yearly financial report for 2022. According to the report, Novomatic AG has generated a turnover of 2.86 billion Euro – a surplus of more than 55% when compared to the previous year. All in all, there was a positive yearly annual profit of more than 214 million Euro. The gambling concern, which is steeped in tradition, has reason to be happy.

The Corona pandemic did not leave any effects on Novomatic AG for the Financial Year 2022. However, the conflict which broke out between Russia and Ukraine in February of last year led to an energy crisis in Europe and a record-high inflation. However, the company seems to have met these challenges. The group generated a revenue amounting to 2859.9 million Euro in 2022, thus more than 50% more than in 2021.

Novomatic AG: revenue increased by more than 55 %

The gambling group which is based in Gumpoldskirchen (Austria) and which is steeped in tradition, had an exciting year. Despite the new challenges which came up, Novomatic AG, made an impressive increase in sales of 55.2%, when compared to the previous year. In numbers this means that in 2022 the company generated a revenue of 2.859.9 million Euro (2021: 1.842,3 Mio. Euro). In March 2023 we had reported about a record increase in turnover of 18 % for the gambling concern Betsson during the same business year.

During the year the company generated 355.9 million Euro from “Games of chance taxes and betting charges”. Besides this there are another 90.7 million Euro, which the stock company had to pay in profits tax in 2022. All in all, the recent profit situation shows a positive annual profit of 214.3 million Euro. As a comparison: two years ago we had reported on GambleJoe that Novomatic 2020 made around 263 million Euro in losses. The worldwide Corona pandemic and the casino closures it brought with it were decisive for this.

How many gaming machines does Novomatic operate, rent and sell?

The recently published Yearly Financial Report 2022 gives information about the number of gaming machines which Novomatic has operated, rented, and sold. According to this information the group had rented 139,510 gaming machines. More than 75,000 of these rented gaming machines are in Germany.

Besides these there are 74,527 gaming machines, which the group itself has operated and another 31,858 gaming machines which were sold. Nearly 10,000 of the machines which the group operates are operated in Germany.

Conclusion

In the conclusion of the Yearly Financial Report the management board thanks “all employees of Novomatic AG for their commitment which has contributed to the further development and success of the company.” In the past Financial Year Novomatic AG reached the “pre Corona levels“ once again. As a comparison: In 2019 the group generated around 2.6 billion Euro, which is similar to the turnover generated in 2022 which was around 2.86 billion. Thus, we are excited to see the developments in the present business year. Anyway, the Novomatic AG has a general positive outlook for 2023.
