Mainz: Player wins 18,000 Euro and is attacked
In May 2022 a woman had already won the house jackpot amounting to 18,000 Euro in a casino in Mainz. After leaving the casino she was followed by a man, and she was then attacked. The police proceeded with investigations against the 30-year-old man and he was then sentenced to several years imprisonment.
In the past we had reported several times on GambleJoe about guests who had won the so-called House Jackpot in German casinos. In September 2022 we had published an article about the Bavarian Jackpot which was won and which amounted to more than 870,000 Euro. A woman who had also visited a casino in Mainz in the last year also won the House Jackpot of 18,000 Euro – however shortly after leaving the casino she had no further luck. The Jackpot winner was attacked in the vicinity of the casino just after leaving it and her winnings were stolen.
Perpetrator stole 18,000 Euro from Jackpot winner
After the happy winner had won the sum of 18,000 in a House Jackpot in a casino in Mainz, she decided to leave the casino on her bike. Before she left she tipped the casino employees 200 Euro. However, as she was on her bike she was attacked by a man and thrown on the floor. She suffered a laceration at the back of her head.
The 30-year-old had followed her out of the casino, after he had noticed that she had cleared the jackpot. Since the suspected perpetrator was also a guest of the casino, the police managed to track him down easily enough through the video recordings. Besides this, in the place of attack the man also dropped a receipt issued to him by the Mainz casino. It is no wonder that he was arrested three months after the incident which happened in May 2022. Last December we had reported about a trial in Berlin after a gang had broken into 13 casinos.
Several years’ prison sentence for previously convicted thief
In Mid-February the District Court of Mainz had already condemned the perpetrator to a prison sentence of two years and ten months. In the past, the 30-year-old accused had already been charged for offences as negligent body harm and robbery. During the trial the man admitted the deed and showed regret. Thus, the court assesed the case as mitigating. Till now the judgement is not yet final.
Conclusion
Sometimes just a few seconds separate luck from bad luck. The casino player was attacked and injured just after she won the Jackpot amounting to 18.000 Euro in a Mainz casino. Luckily the perpetrator was tracked down and he was condemned for his actions. It is still not clear whether meanwhile the woman has received the money back from the perpetrator or whether the loot is still missing.
