Illegal gambling: Public prosecutor’s office investigates Ron Bielecki
As the “WirtschaftsWoche” reported around two weeks ago, the successful Youtuber Ron Bielecki is being investigated. Among other things, the 23-year-old is being accused of organising illegal gambling. But what has Bielecki actually done and which fine can he be expected to receive?
Around a week ago we asked in an article, whether Ron’s Casino Night was a flop. Now the “WirtschaftsWoche” is reporting that the Public Prosecutor’s office in Berlin had started investigations against the arrogant YouTube-Star. He is being investigated for illegal gambling. The Influencer himself has till now not commented about the accusations.
Will his casino streams lead to his downfall?
The 23-year-old is streaming casino content on the internet and enjoys celebrity in his community. Bielecki has more than 120,000 fans just on Twitch. Besides these there are around 700,000 followers on Instagram. It is no secret that Bielecki earns a lot of money with his casino streams.
Over a long period of time Bielicki has posted, both on Twitch and also on Instagram, streams of him playing in Stake Casino for real money. In September of last year we had asked in an article, why do so many casino streamers play on Stake.com.
The Stake Casino does not currently hold a valid German casino licence. Therefore, Stake has also no official permission to provide and market its casino games in Germany. It will also be difficult in the future for the Stake Casino to receive a gambling licence from Germany. Why? Very simple: Because companies based outside Europe cannot receive a German licence for virtual slot machines.
Berlin Public Prosecutor’s Office confirms that Bielecki is being investigated
As the Berlin Public Prosecutor’s Office explained when contacted by the “WirtschaftsWoche”, the 23-year-old internet star is being investigated. According to the Berlin authorities he is being suspected of organising and participating in illegal gambling. These offences are criminal, as determined by §§ 284, 285 German Criminal Code (StGB)
The law states:
§ 284 German Criminal Code (StGB): illegal organisation of gambling (Maximum penalty: 5 years)
Paragraph 1: “Whoever, without the permission of an authority, publicly organises or runs a game of chance or provides the means for doing so shall be liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years or a fine.” (…)
Paragraph 4: “Whoever advertises a public game of chance shall be liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years or a fine.”
§ 285 German Criminal Code (StGB): Whoever participates in a game of chance (a penalty of imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months)
“Whoever participates in a game of chance (§ 284 German Criminal Code), shall be liable to a penalty of imprisonment not exceeding six months or a fine not exceeding 180 daily rates.”
Actually, it cannot be denied that Bielecki has been actively advertising and campaigning for gambling through his publicity related appearance on Twitch and Instagram, whereby among other things, he has played and spent several thousand Euro on Stake. However, we must first wait for the prosecution’s investigations.
Who is Ron Bielecki?
Within a very short time Bielecki has been involved in different scandals. He humiliated a man in one of his live streams and called him “low earner”. He admitted that he earns 300,000 Euro in a month. A few days ago, the media reported about his “Erotic Job” with Micaela Schäfer. Bielecki’s many fans were also very angry when he wanted to sell them very risky NFTs.
