At the end of the day, professional poker is about a whole lot of cash. So it's no wonder that the industry keeps detailed statistics on the successes and winnings of its best players. In this context, there was an interesting milestone from a German perspective at the beginning of November: TheHendonMob.com announced that Fedor Holz from Saarland had cracked the 40 million mark after a good third place in the ‘Triton Poker Super High Roller Series Monte Carlo’. There are only a few professionals in this class.

Making it to the top in professional poker requires more than just skill, tactical dexterity, patience and psychological strength. The ability to consistently deliver top performances over the years is just as crucial. Fedor Holz, the 31-year-old from Saarland, has managed to do just that and has long been one of the outstanding international names on the scene. He is the most successful German player of all time and has secured himself a place in the history books thanks to his extraordinary versatility. Incidentally, another German recently gave a private insight into the life of a poker pro.

At the beginning of November, Holz once again confirmed his status as an absolutely exceptional talent. At the prestigious ‘Triton Poker Super High Roller Series’ in Monte Carlo, he achieved a hard-fought third place in the 100,000 dollar tournament. With prize money of around 1.5 million US dollars (approx. 1.4 million euros), he wrote another chapter in his impressive career and even reached a special milestone in the process:

  • Holz cracked the 40 million dollar mark in total winnings and thus joined an extremely exclusive circle of poker professionals.
  • He is currently ranked 13th on the All-Time Money List - a ranking of the world's most financially successful players.
In addition to his own successes, Holz also showed in Monte Carlo why he has a lasting influence on the poker scene as a mentor and patron. Through his ‘Pokercode’ platform, he supports young talents on their way to the top - with visible success: two members of his team placed well in the same tournament. Other professionals from German-speaking countries also stood out. Monte Carlo thus became the scene of a historic moment for Holz and at the same time confirmed his role as a leading figure in modern poker in the DACH region. Eddy Scharf, whose WSOP bracelets are currently up for sale, held a similar position.

After reaching 40 million dollars, the Monegasque metropolis and stage of the great sport of poker was once again extremely favourable to Holz. Just six days later, Holz once again increased his ranking there. His journey on the all-time money list seems to be far from over - but despite his already impressive standing, he still has some big names ahead of him.

This is how the ‘Triton Poker Super High Roller Series’ in Monte Carlo went for Holz and his German-speaking competitors

The Triton Poker Super High Roller Series in Monte Carlo got off to a solid but unremarkable start for GGPoker ambassador Fedor Holz on 2 November 2024. Incidentally, GGPoker bought the World Series of Poker this year. In the ‘$30,000 + 1,800 No Limit Hold'em - 8-Handed (Event #2)’, he finished in 21st place and took home $50,000 in prize money. The result showed that the Saarlander had not yet reached his best form, but he seemed to be warming up. Incidentally, the best German-speaking pro in this competition was Samuel Mullur, who won 84,000 dollars with his 10th place.

  • The breakthrough for Holz came just a few days later, on 5 November, in the ‘$100,000 + 6,000 No Limit Hold'em - 8-Handed (Event #6)’. In one of the toughest tournaments of the series, the German proved why he is one of the best poker players in the world. After a strong start in the early rounds, he was able to prevail in a highly competitive final phase and ultimately finish in third place with a good fightback. This result earned him prize money of around 1.4 million euros.

Event #6 was also a complete success for his German-speaking colleagues:

  • Mario Mosböck, once a professional footballer in the Austrian Bundesliga, also played his way to the final table and took fourth place, which earned him around €1.4 million.
  • Roland Rokita, a former ski jumper and now a passionate poker pro, was another Austrian who made it into the top 10, finishing in seventh place and securing €482,000.
  • Christoph Vogelsang from Germany collected 381,000 dollars for eighth place.

The ultimate winner was Pieter Aerts from Belgium, who celebrated his victory in Event #6 with a prize of around €2 million.

Holz remained on course for success in the following days:

  1. November: 14th place in the ‘$125,000 + 7,500 Triton Main Event (Event #10)’ for $298,000 in prize money.
  2. November: Third place in the ‘$150,000 + 9,000 No Limit Hold'em - 8-Handed (Event #12)’ for around 1.9 million dollars. Thomas Fuchs, another German player, also made it to seventh place in this tournament and won a handsome 762,000 dollars.

The Triton series in Monte Carlo was therefore a complete success not only for Fedor Holz, but for the entire German-speaking poker scene - proof of its growing influence on the international stage. Moritz Dietrich, the German who recently won the record jackpot in online poker, was not present.

Fedor Holz: The undisputed number one among German poker pros, a great 13th place internationally

Fedor Holz has established himself not only nationally, but also internationally as an exceptional figure in poker. The database TheHendonMob.com, which is the largest of its kind with almost 900,000 players and more than 600,000 events, lists Holz in 13th place on the all-time money list - an impressive achievement given the enormous competition in the global poker scene. With total winnings of 45,594,099 US dollars, he is also the undisputed number one in Germany.

In the international rankings, Holz' successes are in direct comparison with giants of the scene. The current leader, Bryn Kenney from the USA, leads with an impressive USD 73,041,920 in total winnings. Justin Bonomo and Steven Chidwick follow in second and third place with around 64 and 60 million respectively. However, Holz' 13th place shows that he is also one of the best of the best on a global scale.

Compared to Bryn Kenney, Holz is well behind with a gap of just under 27 million US dollars. Nevertheless, his ranking is impressive: only a total of eight German players have ever made it into the world's top 100. Christoph Vogelsang, the second-placed German, is ranked 21st with 35,806,291 US dollars - still a considerable gap to Holz. With his position in the elite, he remains a fixture on the international poker scene and a role model for the next generation from German-speaking countries.

Conclusion

By joining the select club of 40 million players, Fedor Holz has once again proven why he is one of the best poker players in the world. His third place at the ‘Triton Poker Super High Roller Series’ in Monte Carlo is not only another success on his long list of achievements, but also proof of his exceptional consistency and strategic finesse.

Nationally, he is the undisputed number one, internationally he is in an outstanding 13th place - and he is only 31 years old. While Holz continues to challenge the international competition, his commitment to promoting young talent also remains remarkable. His platform ‘Pokercode’ brings new players to the top and shows that Holz is not only thinking about his own success, but also about the future of the game.

Considering his achievements, his age and the speed at which he is breaking records, it is clear that Fedor Holz is nowhere near the end of his career. The question is not whether he will reach the top of the all-time money list, but when. The poker world can look forward to seeing what milestones he sets next.
