2nd German Dealer Championship: Who is the best dealer?

The second edition of the German Dealer Championship (GDC) will take place at Casino Baden-Baden at the beginning of April. In this competition, the participating croupiers compete against each other in various disciplines in order to perhaps be able to call themselves the best croupier in Germany at the end. But what qualities are decisive in the tournament?

From 9 to 11 April 2024, the second edition of the German Dealer Championship, or GDC for short, will take place at the prestigious Casino Baden-Baden (Baden-Württemberg). The participating croupiers will have to prove their skills in front of a strict jury in order to be able to call themselves the best croupier in Germany. In summer 2021, we at GambleJoe reported on a case in which a casino dealer cheated and was sentenced to prison.

2nd German Dealer Championship - what disciplines will there be?

The casino's official website states that there will be a total of seven events. In addition to the two main events American Roulette and Blackjack, five further side events are planned, including Best Chipper, Best Cutting Chips and Best Mathematician.

The participating croupiers are assessed by a strict jury. The assessment criteria include, for example, manual skills and hospitality. When it comes to manual skills, the main focus is on dexterity and the elegance exuded. In addition, the jury also looks at the overview of the game, so that attention is paid to whether the dealer has the game under control at all times. The complete set of rules can be found online.

Programme overview of the 2nd German Dealer Championship at Casino Baden-Baden:

• Tuesday, 9 April at 20:00: Group draw in the Florentine Hall
• Wednesday, 10 April from 15:00 - 17:40: Main Events in the Florentine Hall
• Thursday, 11 April from 15:00 - 17:45: Final in the Florentine Hall followed by the award ceremony

Tournament winners qualify for the European Championships

The first edition of the German Dealer Championship took place in March last year in Casino Schenefeld, almost 700 kilometres away. Croupiers from all German casino companies are once again invited to the second edition at Casino Baden-Baden. It is not yet known how many croupiers will be taking part in the event. Last year, Tobias Hellberg came out on top against a total of 21 competitors and received prize money totalling 10,000 euros.

The two winners of the 2nd German Dealer Championship will then travel to Holland in June to take part in the 16th European Dealer Championship at Casino Venlo.
