First partypoker-World Championship for Amateurs on the internet
The renowned online poker-provider partypoker is organising the first online World Championship in Amateur Poker (WCOAP) in the next days. The tournament series will take place from the 23rd. January to the 7th. February 2021 and 750,000 US-Dollar Prize money will be won by the participating gamblers.
For the first time, partypoker is organising a poker tournament which is exclusively for amateur players. In all there will be 30 Events with 16 Championships during the tournament. There is even a “Mini-Version“ of the events, in which a few US-Dollars are already enough to be able to take part. But on which days shall the highlights take place and how attractive can the first online-version of the tournament series be?
Guaranteed prize pool amounting to 750,000 US-Dollar
The amateur gamblers can look forward to total winnings amounting to 750,000 US-Dollars in the two week tournament. The largest single win will be offered as a prize on the tournament final on the 7th. February 2021 - 150,000 US-Dollar will be distributed at one go to the first-place-winner during the so-called „Main Event“. Besides the prize money, the winner can also look forward to the title “Amateur Poker Champion“.
The fact, that there is also a World Championship in Amateur Poker is nothing new. The event will meanwhile take place for the sixteenth time. New this year is that the tournament series will take place completely online because of the worldwide pandemic. To be able to take part in the online tournament the players must register at partypoker. The tournament series is surprisingly widely set up. There is not only Texas Hold’em as an alternative, but also Seven Card Stud as well as Pot Limit Omaha.
Highlights of this year’s partypoker Championship
Nearly on every day of the tournament there are especially interesting activities with high prize money. Besides the two-day “Main Event” on the 7th. , and on the 8th. February, during which 150,000 US-Dollar will be offered, there is also the “Super High Roller“-Event on the 3rd. February. Here the prize pool is 100,000 US-Dollar. Besides this, there is similarly, nearly in all Poker-Events a prize pool of 75.000 US-Dollar (e.g. High Roller Championship, Knockout Championship). Below we are listing the tournament highlights one again in chronological order:
- 6-max Knockout Championship on the 24th. January - Prize pool: 75,000 US-Dollar
- High Roller Championship on the 27th. January - Prize pool: 75,000 US-Dollar
- Knockout Championship on the 31st. January - Prize pool: 75,000 US-Dollar
- Super High Roller on the 23rd. February - Prize pool: 100,000 US-Dollar
- Main Event on the 7th. ,and 8th. February - Prize pool: 150,000 US-Dollar
“WCOAP Mini Series” with buy-in of 5.50 US-Dollar
Actually this whole tournament is aimed at amateur gamblers. However even here one must make a difference between players, who are playing with different budgets. In the above mentioned main rounds the buy-in usually amounts to 55 US-Dollar, sometimes however it is a bit more. In the “Super High Roller Championship“-Event each player must even pay 530 US-Dollar as buy-in , that is as a fee.
In the so- called WCOAP Mini Series it is a bit different. This is a “Mini-Version” of the tournament series, in which the buy-in mostly amounts to only 5.50 US-Dollar. In this case the prize pool is also limited to a few thousand US-Dollar. In the “Main-Event” one can here however also win 20,000 US-Dollar.
Conclusion
This year‘s partypoker Championship is not only special for amateur poker players. The organiser also emphasises, that for him it is especially exciting, to be able to offer the first complete online-version of the tournament series. We cannot wait to see, if the participants and organisers at the end will draw a positive conclusion from it. Should that be the case, the Championship of Amateur Pokers (WCOAP) could perhaps take place permanently online in the coming years. In the last years, tournaments of this type were very popular especially because of the gambler friendly Startstacks as well as the low buy-ins.
