Drive-Through-Casino opens in France

Since some weeks there is the first Drive-Through-Casino in France. The local casino in the community of La Grande-Motte has thought out the so-called “Gambling Boxes“, in which the gamblers can simply drive through with the car and then play comfortably. However is there the potential for this idea to also catch on in other cities and especially in the German-speaking countries?

Due to the continuous Corona pandemic, a casino in France has given vent to its creativity and created a completely new gambling concept. Since the gamblers will be driving by the individual “Gambling-boxes” in their vehicle, contact will be avoided and hygiene concepts such as social distancing can be better implemented. The first Drive-Through-Casino has opened a few days ago in the French Community of La Grande-Motte.

Roll down the windows and gamble from the car

Those who would like to visit the first Drive-Through-Casino, must travel to the French Community La Grande-Motte. It is around 700 km to the German border, since the community is on the Southern Coast of France. The idea was implemented by the land-based Casino La Grande-Motte. In all, there are 17 different “Gambling Boxes“ available for the guests to drive by with their vehicles.

After the guests approach with their vehicle, they can simply roll down their windows and gamble away. Customers can choose not only different Roulette-games, but also several classical gambling slots. The current corona-regulations in France however stipulate, that each and every vehicle occupant presents a negative Corona-test.

Test phase will last till summer

In the currently running test phase the Casino La Grande-Motte wants to find out how big is the demand for Drive-Through-Casino in the area. The offer is therefore erstwhile limited till summer. However, if the offer is received well by the customers , they will consider offering the Drive-Through-Casino permanently.

Casino-atmosphere in own car?

The casino not only offers drinks in the “Gambling Boxes“, but also plays “Casino tunes“ and music in the background, to create a suitable casino atmosphere. The idea of a Drive-Through-Casino has so far been received quite well by the gamblers.

Most gamblers appreciate the fact, that there are less people and therefore the concentration factor is higher. Further to this, there is no strict dress-code, so that one can also visit the Drive-Through-Casino in jogging pants. To date the „Car-Casino“ has been received comparatively well by the French gamblers - around 50 customers drive-through daily in their cars. And this, even though the traditional Casino La Grande-Motte has meanwhile reopened.

Conclusion

Of course, the Drive-Through-Casino as the one in the Southern France Community La Grande-Motte will not be received well by all gambling types. It is a fact that the ideas is creative and innovative and this on its own is an attraction. It is questionable, if the concept of the Drive-Through-Casinos will however prevail in the long term beyond the pandemic. At least, in the Drive-Through-Casino, one seems to enjoy similar advantages to the online casino: Freedom to choose your own clothes, no stress factor and a better possibility to concentrate. In spite of this, according to our knowledge, there seem to be no concrete plans to open such a Drive-Through-Casino in Germany.
