European and American gambling associations want to cooperate
Gambling associations from the USA and Europe want to work more closely together in future. A memorandum of understanding was recently signed to achieve this goal. But what is the motivation behind the associations' plans for closer cooperation?
The President of the American Gaming Association (AGA), Bill Miller, announced around two weeks ago at the Global Gaming Expo trade fair that the association intends to cooperate more closely with European associations in the future. Specifically, the Betting & Gaming Council (BGC) as well as the European Casino Association (ECA) have been convinced to cooperate more closely.
Legal gambling industry to be promoted through cooperation
The closer cooperation between European and American gambling associations is intended to promote the legal gambling industry. In addition, players are to be better protected from the dangers of gambling. The AGA President has also set himself the goal of combating the illegal gambling sector. Back in March 2021, we attempted to answer the question of how responsible gambling can work in an article published on GambleJoe.
The President of the British Betting & Gaming Council (BGC), Grainne Hurst, was optimistic about the cooperation in an official statement:
"I am confident that the cooperation with the AGA and the EVA and our shared knowledge will make a decisive contribution to improving the standards for safe gambling. It will also enable us to more effectively combat the threat posed by the growing unregulated gambling black market."
Joint platform to enable better exchange
As one of the first steps in the joint cooperation, a joint platform is to be created. This will allow the participating gambling associations to coordinate research projects and share their expertise.
Plans currently envisage that the intensified cooperation will be presented to the public at an event in January next year. In addition to the gambling associations, members from the respective regulatory and law enforcement authorities will also take part in this event.
As recently as October of this year, we at GambleJoe reported that the gambling market in Las Vegas continues to boom.
Conclusion
In the fight against illegal gambling, European and American gambling associations will cooperate much more closely with each other in the future. It will be interesting to see whether this exchange of experience will succeed in the medium and long term in advancing the legal gambling industry and protecting gamblers better.
