Can ChatGPT help in online casinos?

ChatGPT is a prototype of a chatbot which was released in 2022. Users can use the query form to ask the system questions about all possible topics. These will then be answered. In the past months media from all over the world have reported about this artificial intelligence. But can ChatGPT be of help in the online casino in the future?

A Chatbot such as ChatGPT can carry out human like conversations with users. A combination of rules and machine learning is used to react to the user’s entry and the chatbot generates individual possibly suitable texts as replies. In the past on GambleJoe we had often spoken about artificial intelligence (AI). We had already reported about it in December 2020, that AI can increase the risk-taking during games of chance.

Can GPT help during online games of chance?

Users can ask questions in different languages through the query form in ChatGPT. These will then be replied to immediately by the chatbot. So far, the experiences with ChatGPT have shown that it generates suitable and detailed answers to many questions. Of course, we took special interest to see the added value of ChatGPT in the field of online games of chance. We tried out ChatGPT ourselves and asked the chatbot some general questions about games of chance.

Question 1: How do I win in the online casino?

ChatGPT answer: “As AI linguistic model I am not allowed to facilitate or support games of chance or betting. I also cannot offer you strategies to outsmart the system or guarantee that you win. (…) some games have a higher pay-out rate than others. Thus, you should inform yourself beforehand and develop a strategy accordingly. (…) it is also important to play in a serious online casino which holds a valid licence”.

Question 2: Which is the most popular casino game?

ChatGPT answer: “The most popular casino games vary and depend on religion and culture, but slot machines are popular all over the world. This is because they are simple to play, and they often provide large jackpots. Further popular casino games are Blackjack, Roulette, Baccarat and Poker (…)”

Question 3: How do I win the jackpot in the casino?

ChatGPT answer: “There is no guarantee that you can win the jackpot in the casino since most games are random and based on luck. (…) if you play on slot machines you should choose machines which provide a progressive jackpot, since these are generally larger than the predetermined jackpots (…)”.

For which casino games can Artificial Intelligence be profitable?

More than two years ago in an article we had published on GambleJoe we had given an overview of the future outlook with regards to Artificial Intelligence during games of chance. At that time we had already reported that even software providers such as GAMING1 are interested in AI. It is a fact that Chatbots as ChatGPT cannot increase the chances of winning in the online casino.

In pure games of chance such as online slots the ChatGPT cannot help anyway. However, what about for example Poker, which includes a strategic component? Actually, ChatGPT here delivers more or less concrete recommended actions, if one describes the game situation to the chatbot:

Question: I have two aces in hand during poker. I got another two aces in flop. How should I play now?

ChatGPT reply: “if you have two aces in hand during poker and get two aces in flop, then you have a quadruplet, a very strong hand. In this situation it is important to get your opponents to put as much money as possible in the pot, to maximise your earnings (…). You should also be careful not to play too aggressively since your opponents can assume that you have a strong hand and withdraw (…).” 

At the end of November of last year we had already reported that the first German licence for online poker had been issued. The experiences made till now show that Artificial Intelligence often lacks rationality. This means that ChatGPT and other systems cannot explain plausibly why particular answers were given. 

ChatGPT in the customer service of the online casinos?

Some online gambling providers are already providing a chatbot a spart of the help centre. The users can here write the question in the chat and the chatbot will formulate an automated reply within a few seconds. Unfortunately, experience shows that these type of answers often do not contain the added value content which a real support employee could offer. For this reason, chatbots are often not popular and not so accepted by the users.

Thanks to advanced chatbots as ChatGPT the importance of Artificial Intelligence in customer support could however increase. Our next example shows that even ChatGPT can help with simple “beginners’ questions”:

Question: I need help in the JackpotPiraten Casino. What is the minimum deposit?

ChatGPT answer: “The JackpotPiraten Casino has different minimum deposit amounts depending on the payment method and the country in which you are. Generally the minimum deposit is however 10 Euro (…)”.

Question: I need help in the StarGames Casino. How long does the disbursement take?

Chat GPT answer: “the number of days till money is disbursed at StarGames depends on the chosen payment method. Most payments are processed and carried out within 2 to 5 working days (…)“.

Conclusion

The technical progress is advancing. After the chatbot ChatGPT was released at the end of 2022, interested users can make use of Artificial Intelligence in the daily life and hold human like conversations with a chatbot. Actually, ChatGPT can be surprising at many times with the detailed and correct answers it provides. Those interested can try out ChatGPT anytime and register at “chat.openai.com” which is free of charge and non-binding. Our personal experiences show that ChatGPT has some idea of online games of chance.
