Is Bet3000 no longer a partner of TSV 1860 Munich?
Bet3000 is currently making headlines: With the removal of the sports betting provider from the whitelist, there was initially speculation as to how this could have happened. Official statements have since been issued and the company's stationary betting shops are allowed to continue their business activities following a lawsuit. Users are still shown a maintenance page online. The incidents have now led to TSV 1860 Munich literally cancelling Bet3000 as an ‘exclusive partner’.
The current events surrounding the deletion of Bet3000 from the whitelist are quite curious: the established betting provider had to forfeit its German licence because it failed to comply with certain technical requirements for online business. There was apparently a problem with the connection to the cross-national gambling supervisory system LUGAS. As this is a mandatory component, the decision is basically understandable. However, as we reported in an earlier article, the shortcoming was apparently rectified some time ago. Nevertheless, the Joint Gambling Authority of the Federal States (GGL) withdrew the licence without further consultation or notice.
Bet3000 therefore decided to make its website inaccessible to German customers. It is unlikely that there will be any further damaging consequences for the company. In addition to the online business, the stationary betting shops also had to close initially because the licence was also withdrawn here. However, Bet3000 filed an urgent appeal against this, which the court promptly granted. The general conclusion was that the technical difficulties were not an issue in the shops.
It is likely that Bet3000 will be able to resume its online services in the near future. The incident will then quickly be forgotten. For now, however, the matter is critical - firstly for the bookie's business, of course, but also for other stakeholders. The latter include TSV 1860 Munich. The third division football club has a sponsoring partnership with Bet3000. However, the sports betting provider's logos were already pasted over in the typical places at the start of the league. Was the partnership finally terminated?
TSV 1860 Munich will probably find it difficult to accept the possible termination of the exclusive partnership with Bet3000
The third Bundesliga has only just started and TSV 1860 Munich have already suffered two defeats. In the season opener against Saarbrücken, it was immediately noticeable that the Bet3000 logos had been pasted over on the shirts and on all advertising boards. The banners were also removed from the club's website. The sports betting provider has the role of ‘exclusive partner’ for the club. This allows it to be prominently displayed on the Lions' shirt sleeves and on the large areas of the advertising boards, which typically serve as a backdrop for interviews. The logo of the Malta-based company also appears in a number of other places. Not inconsiderable sums are being spent on this.
As reported by the fan press in particular, Bet3000 is said to transfer between 200,000 and 250,000 euros per season to the Munich team. The loss of such a sum would generally be a delicate matter. The fact that BayWa, which contributed around 350,000 euros, bwin with a sponsorship of around 176,000 euros and the hotelier Horst Dilly have already been dropped makes the matter even more critical. As can be read in the relevant reports, there are no financially strong successors to date. The fact that the team has not exactly had the best start to the current season undoubtedly does little to improve the situation.
But is Bet3000 really out with 1860?
An official announcement from the club or Bet3000 is still pending. The fan magazine ‘dieblaue24’ has already enquired with 1860, but has not received a concrete answer. As stated in a corresponding article, the statement from the press office was meagre: ‘Unfortunately, all questions relate to internal company and contractual matters or ongoing processes.’
In any case, the current jerseys are still being offered with the Bet3000 logo in the TSV shops. As reported by ‘dieblaue24’, it will also continue to adorn the advertising boards on the one-seater pitch at Grünwalder Straße. The chances of a continuation of the co-operation are high. However, only the upcoming matches and the jerseys that will be used will reveal the exact details.
