Because of casino streams? 19-year-old loses 10,000 Euro

In an interview with BuzzFeed News DE a young man has admitted to having lost several thousand Euro in gambling. The 19-year-old has stated that he first started dabbling in casinos streams when he was 15 and thus he became addicted.

First contact with gambling streams at a young age of 15

The young man who is meanwhile 19 years old admitted in an interview with BuzzFeed that he had first got involved in gambling at the young age of 15. At the time he was seeing streams of the computer game Counter-Strike. The big streams were then already sharing corresponding links through which one could bet with virtual items from the game - this was the starting point for the young man.

A few years later he was already on Twitch with “real” casino streams. He was impressed with the gigantic casino wins which the Influencers seemed to be making. The young man was wishing and imagining how nice it would be to win so much money - and he started to gamble.

According to his own admission he was motivated to keep gambling through the casino streams. In the interview he admitted that he had at times spent between 500 and 600 Euro per month in several online casinos and he had lost. At that time, he was still doing his apprenticeship and had limited funds, and thus could not “afford” to lose so much money.

Highest win of 4,000 Euro mostly spent in gambling again

He stated that the highest amount which the 19-year-old has ever won in gambling is 4,000 Euro. He actually got paid out 1,000 Euro of them, but the remaining 3,000 Euro were lost by him in the casino once again. From time to time, he has thought of stopping but whenever he has seen casino streams on Twitch, he always gets the urge to play again. The young man first entered a real casino when he was with some friends on his 19^th. birthday. A short while later he also started visiting the casino alone - at times daily. He had lost all his money and broken off all his social contacts. During his “worst” time, he accumulated debts amounting to 600 Euro, which is quite a lot for his age. The 19-year-old realised that he had lost control of his gambling behaviour and pulled the plug by stopping all gambling completely. He estimates that in his short time of playing at the casino he has lost 10,000 Euro. Nowadays he is still on Twitch, however he views streams of computer games and not of casino streams. The case of the 19-year-old shows that casino streams can be very dangerous, especially for young people. Therefore, it is definitely right that casino streams are strictly restricted, and they should definitely not be accessible to minors.
