Autoplay ban: Can an autoclicker help?

Since the new State Treaty on Gambling came into force, a number of player protection regulations have applied in German online casinos. These include a ban on autoplay. Of course, it can be questioned whether such a ban is suitable for protecting users from problematic gaming behavior. But what options do players have to deal with the current situation and can the autoplay ban be overridden with an autoclicker?
At the end of 2022, GambleJoe already reported on the most annoying player protection regulations. In addition to the autoplay ban, the most unpopular rules included the ban on progressive jackpots, the minimum playing time of 5 seconds and the maximum stake of one euro per game round. In today's article, we would like to try to answer the question of whether it is still possible to activate autoplay in German online casinos.
Activating autoplay with autoclicker - a good idea?
In German online casinos, it is no longer possible to use an autoplay function for slots. As a result, each game round has to be started with a separate click. Many players find the constant clicking of the "Start" button annoying and do not really feel better protected from the dangers of gambling by this ban.
To solve this problem, resourceful users have come up with the idea of simply using so-called auto clicker software. This is an external program that is downloaded and then repeatedly clicks on the "Start" button. In the recent past, many gamblers have downloaded and used the "GS AutoClicker" software. Another popular program among gamblers is called "Speed Auto Clicker" and can also be downloaded free of charge.
However, if you want to use such an autoclicker in the casino, you should make sure in advance that such a program is not explicitly prohibited in the general terms and conditions (GTC) of the respective online casino. Of course, online casinos with a German license must adhere to the legal regulations and are therefore generally not permitted to circumvent the applicable player protection regulations.
We asked the support team at JackpotPiraten Spielothek whether an autoplay app or similar software applications are permitted here. The answer is clear:
"Automatic gaming is not permitted here due to the regulations. However, if an infringement is detected, we will issue a warning".
The problem with the Auto Clicker software: Normally, these programs work in such a way that recurring clicks are always made where the cursor is located at that time. This means that the user cannot do anything else on the PC while using such software, as the cursor must always remain exactly on the "Start" button. There is also the risk that the wrong buttons may be clicked if the cursor slips (e.g. Max Bet). In an earlier article, we at GambleJoe asked ourselves whether the autoplay function in online casinos is a blessing or a curse.
Conclusion
The autoplay ban was introduced to better protect players from the dangers of gambling. Whether the ban fulfills its purpose is open to question. The fact is, however, that it is no longer possible to activate autoplay directly in the slots if the respective online casino has a German license from the Joint Gaming Authority of the German federal states (GGL).
The alternative is to download external software that takes over the recurring click on the "Start" button. However, users should be aware that the German online casinos naturally do not like it if the legal regulations are circumvented with such an autoplay app. For this reason, players should refrain from using auto clicker software if possible.
