Attempted robbery in Bremen: Casino employee is shot
A brutal robbery attempt took place a few days ago in Osterholz in Bremen. During the night from the 11th. to the 12th. July 2022 a perpetrator, who till now has not been identified, attempted to rob the casino and shot the employee working there several times. The criminal police are now looking for any witnesses and an intensive search for perpetrator is being carried out.
In March of this year, we had reported about a robbery in a casino in Wuppertal. Another robbery attempt at a casino took place just a few days ago in Bremen. The unknown perpetrator shot several times at the 56-year-old employee. The latter was treated in a local hospital and the perpetrator managed to escape.
Casino: Shots at 56-year-old employee
During the night from the 11th to the 12th of July, at around 01:10 the perpetrator asked to enter the casino in the Bremer district of Osterholz. After the employee who was working there, opened the door for him, the alleged guest took out a weapon and aimed it at the 56-year-old employee. There afterwards there was a scramble, during which, the robber fired several shots at the employee. It is being assumed that the weapon was of the soft air weapon type.
Suspect escaped without loot
However, in the moments that followed, the employee managed to push the robber out of the casino. The suspect then managed to escape on foot towards Züricher Straße. According to witnesses the robber escaped without taking any money. An immediate search for the perpetrator was carried out by the police in the neighbourhood. However, this proved futile. The injured employee was treated by emergency personnel and was then taken for further treated in a hospital. Around a year ago we had reported that a 72-year old employee had chased a “lotto robber” and therefore foiled a robbery.
The police in Bremen are now looking for the casino robber who managed to escape. The robber is said to be 1.75 m tall, and he was wearing a dark jacket with light stripes on the arms. Besides this, the man was also wearing red or orange-coloured trousers and had dark shoes and a dark cap on. He was also wearing a balaclava. The criminal police in Bremen are now looking for witnesses. The latter can call the crime unit (Kriminaldauerdienst) on 0421 362 3888 and this unit is available around-the-clock.
Statistics: Less robberies in casinos
As we had reported in April 2021, new regulations have been published to prevent casino robberies. We had also pointed out that the number of crimes in casinos have decreased. According to Statista, the number of attempted robberies attempts in casinos, has been on the descent for years – this trend has of course continued during the Corona-Pandemic, especially in view of the longer lockdowns:

Conclusion
An unidentified robber who was using a soft air weapon shot several times at an employee during an attempted robbery at a casino in Graubündener Straße. The employee was injured and had to be treated in hospital. However, the 56-year-old employee managed to push the robber out of the casino, so that the latter escaped without a loot. Now the police in Bremen are carrying out intensive searches for the man who managed to escape.
