After 13 Casino robberies: trial in Berlin
In the coming days several men will be taken to the District Court Berlin and accused of committing several robberies. In varying combinations, the gang has allegedly committed 13 robberies on gambling and betting halls. During the armed robberies they managed to get away with several tens of thousands of Euro. Most likely they will now be facing several years imprisonment.
Statistics show that the number of robbery attempts on casinos in Germany has been increasing for some years. The reasons for this are various. Generally, the perpetrators can only get away with a comparatively small loot at these locations. But the risk of being discovered is quite high and there is a high criminal penalty. However, all this did not keep the group of men from carrying 13 robberies in one month on betting and gambling halls.
Series started in March 2022 in Berlin-Reinickendorf
According to the prosecution the series of robberies took place in March of this year in the Berlin district of Reinickendorf. Apparently at that time three of the four accused men raided a gambling hall whilst wearing a mask. The 25-year-old casino employee was threatened with a gun and asked to hand over the money. The employee was hit with the weapon and “tossed away from the stool” in an adjoining room. In summer of this year we had reported about a similar robbery in Bremen, during which a gambling hall employee was shot.
In the following days and weeks, the accused men committed 12 other robberies which seemed to follow the same pattern. However, they did not get away with a loot in each robbery. According to the prosecution, the perpetrators are between 24 and 47 years old and were working as a gang. The prosecution is accusing Ibrahim P. (24), Senad B. (25), Stanislav N. (47) and Antonio B. (27) of extortion, grievous bodily harm and aggravated robbery.
Gang makes away with a total of 30,000 Euro
The prosecution is estimating that the accused made away with a total of 30,000 Euro during the robberies. When taking into consideration that 13 robberies were committed this comes up to an average loot of just over 2,300 Euro.
However, the racket ended just several days from their last robbery in April 2022, as three of the men were apprehended. The fourth man, an alleged accomplice, was handcuffed around two months later. The police traced the accomplice through pictures from security cameras and through DNA traces.
Defendants choose to remain silent when accused
The men have remained in custody since they were arrested. The trial should take place over 30 days and judgement is scheduled for May 2023. All the defendants chose to remain silent when accused during the trial at the District Court Berlin. The men are facing several years of imprisonment. Around three months ago we had reported of another two armed robberies on gambling halls in Stuttgart.
Conclusion
The ruthless robbery gang made away with a total of approximately 30,000 Euro. However, the police soon managed to apprehend and arrest the four young men. Now the men are facing charges at the District Court of Berlin. Since the four accused decided to keep silence, it is expected that it will be a long trial.
