83-year old operated five illegal casinos

At the beginning of the month the public prosecutor’s office and the police in the district of Hildesheim searched several gambling halls. What is special in the case: an 83-year-old woman is being investigated. But what is the pensioner and the other suspects being accused of?

When we talk about the operation of an illegal gambling hall no one would think of an elderly woman who is over 80 years as being the perpetrator. But this is what the 83-year-old woman from the district of Hildesheim is being accused of exactly. In March the authorities started investigating the woman, together with a 50-year-old man from Hannover and a 51-tear-old man from Hildesheim. The allegation: the trio seem to have been operating five illegal gambling halls. On the 2nd May we had reported that the German slot machine industry finds its own services unattractive.

Investigating authoritites confiscate evidence

During a search at the beginning of May in the district of Hildesheim the police and the public prosecutor’s office confiscated extensive evidence. Among these are 53 slot machines as well as four money exchange machines, several computers and cash amounting to a four-digit-figure. An 83-year-old female and two male suspects who are 50 and 51 years old respectively are being investigated.

The trio is being accused of operating five gambling halls in Elze, Harsum, Algermissen and Bad Salzdetfurth during a time which has not been specified. They did not seem to have the necessary permission from the authorities to operate them. The police and public prosecutor’s office are investigating the organisation of illegal games of chance. These investigations are still ongoing, and the confiscated evidence is currently being analysed. Besides it is still unclear how the investigating authorities got to know about the illegal operation of the gambling halls.

At the end of March we had reported about a similarly impressive case of illegal games of chance, which was about a butcher who was involve din illegal games of chance, sex and had debts running into millions.

Conclusion

Under the direction of the public prosecutor’s office, the police department of Hildesheim is investigating illegal games of chance. An 83-year-old female, as well as two males aged 50 and 51 years old respectively are being accused of operating five casinos without legal permission. However, no one was arrested during the raid which took place on the 3rd. May 2023.
