Gates of Olympus is a game that I really like. Unfortunately, the free spins have been very frequent lately with miserable results, sometimes only a few euros per trigger. So I decided to give the demo version a try. 50 bonus buys for 20 USD each, logged and counted.
And here is the result:
- Average win was 17.43 USD.
- Number of wins over 20 USD (i.e. a net win): 12 times.
- Number of wins at least 200x (i.e. at least a doubling of the bet): 4 times
It seems to me that with bonus buys (at least in this game) the RTP hits surprisingly quickly.

Ouch! Yes, you're right about that. I made every spin via the Pragmatic Play site (provider), but in several attempts: I must have mixed up the currencies.
I'll do it again soon, always in the same currency.

Hello frapi07,
i've reloaded the slot a few times (shouldn't be a problem, as it's always the same random generator). Just a moment, I'm just finishing another 50 bonus buys, this time only in US dollars, and then I'll do the math.
frapi07 wrote on 12.11.2023 at 15:11: You had 1,000 USD as a budget. How much did you have left in the end? Or of the 100k demo money, how much was left at the end?
according to his statement, 871.50 should have been left over with an average profit of 17.43
It occurs to me that it shouldn't really matter for the example whether it's USD or euro: it should be interchangeable in this case. I found the result somewhat sobering: the many Bonuses with almost less than 20x - 30x were really more than a little annoying.

yes, that more or less covers my experience with Pragamtics, which has a similar volatility and an identical max win (5,000x). Out of 10 bonuses, only one is more than 200x on average. That almost covers your 1st attempt (4/50 bonuses brought you wins over 200x). Most bonuses (6 out of 10) are somewhere between 3-30x. 50-100x are rather rarer (about 2-3 out of 10 bonuses).
I once bought 3 bonuses at Platin at Gates á 200€ and always won around 10x. I didn't top up €600 at the time, but only €211 (€11 because of the tax) and then always let myself be triggered and kept paying in. I can't remember if I went out with a plus that day, but it was really frustrating.
Sweet Bonanza, Gates and all the other slots can be brutal - especially if you get bonuses where only the Scatter pays at the beginning (i.e. 3x).

I was probably blinded by some of the initial successes. I still love this slot, but when there are free spins just before the end (once exactly when I had turned off that 20% extra bet!), which then bring a fabulous 4 euros to 20 cents, I could really knock the thing against the wall.
Today is another prime example. With a nice series at More Magic Apples 2 10 euros gambled up to almost 40, played, got free spins. The result was MORE than a little unsightly.
And it felt like every time I built up a really cool multi (100x or more), it threw almost nothing over 7-8 spins. As if the stupid toad had smelled it (but I've already written about that here in another thread).
I've also seen him simply not go in at all for half an hour. That was almost Spielo level.

I don't know if the extra bet is any good. I mainly buy Bonuses and don't play for them^^

That's normal. The Win factor is already known when the bonus is awarded, everything else is just a visual gimmick. If the win factor is reached or almost reached, then the slot certainly won't be throwing out wins with a 100x multi Unfortunately, this is unpleasant to see, because you think that it could finally go bang, but you shouldn't let yourself be blinded. By the way, this is also the case with the slots where you can rack up your free spins. Everything is prescribed. If you gamble that, then you just walk out with 0€ instead of 10-20x, but be sure that you haven't gambled 100x or so. If it wants to pay, then you can also win big with the minimum number of spins. Then extensions are added.

Now we're back in the realm of the crystal ball I recently opened a thread here.
Still, it's annoying. If I want to dive into the "slots" conversation, then I always find it a nasty joke if there are any "random special rules" for free spins.
It's a real mystery to me how the streamers always create these huge multis with maximum winnings.

I think that's how slots generally work. Maybe someone else can confirm it or correct me. As soon as you press the button, it's decided in milliseconds whether it's a win or a lose. The whole look is only intended for the player. Whether on the machine or in the OC, it should work the same.

Well with 50 pieces only 13% bankroll lost. That's not bad. Thank you.
