Off topic & small talk: Natural disasters in Malta - 2019 - Climate change?

On Friday afternoon (22.02.2019) first storm-like gusts appeared on our small Mediterranean island...
Then on Saturday morning there was a hailstorm and the temperatures suddenly dropped to as low as 4 degrees.
Shortly after, an extreme storm formed over Malta, which continues until now and completely devastates the island.

Wind speeds of over 100 km/h have already caused trees to be completely uprooted in the street where we live. Our cellar is under water, the streets are flooded and no longer passable, because everywhere stones lie on the road. The power supply is no longer stable due to the power lines partially attached to the outside of the house, 2x my UPSs (emergency power systems) have jumped on because the voltage fluctuates.

Talking to the Maltese, this is probably the most violent storm they have ever experienced.

What do you guys think? Are these effects from climate change? If so, Malta will have to be better prepared in the coming years as well.

Stock up on drinking water, stock up on food. Batteries, candles, blankets, it sounds crazy, but when you feel the effects of a force of nature on your own body, you realize more than ever how vulnerable and attackable we humans actually are in our usual environment.

Here are a few links on the subject where you can find photos and videos of the situation on the ground:

The pictures look really violent! Nothing seems to have happened to you..that's good.

Personally, I think it is at the moment a climate change in progress yes..BUT...that is not man-made, but there was such a thing again and again (eg the ice age)

Stockpiling is a good idea, to be honest, that's what went through my mind when I thought of the months of drought last year and now it looks like the game is starting all over again, but now already in February.

climate change = direct effects of the ongoing and steadily increasing pole shift.
nothing made by man. only those who want to earn money with it claim that.
man always sees himself as god almighty, but is actually only a small light in the course of natural processes....

Thought Malta is so safe when it comes to natural disasters?
Of course, that's tough. Hope you survive everything in one piece

Not only food and water. Toilet paper, camping stove, gas bottles and possibly a boat that you can get off the island. Everything you need to survive a few weeks. Those who have not thought that far will want food and water first, if necessary by force. I would only get in line again when it has calmed down.
So I could imagine that it will run.

Well, with a boat we wouldn't get far, the waves are between 5-10 meters high and destroy everything on the promenade... be it restaurants, kiosks, even supermarkets, which are on the opposite side of the street

It remains exciting...

The main thing is that no one comes to harm, personnel! So that there is a material damage is clear.

Good is when the Insurance takes effect.do you all have there a natural hazard insurance?or can you not conclude something like that on an island?

But if the store or store built with love is destroyed, that's not nice either.

I notice the climate change since a few years.
Here in Berlin there is already the second year no snow.
Last winter was maybe one, two days of sleet and this year the same.
A few flakes, that's it.

That was the whole life differently...winter meant snow, cold, sledding!
If you want snow now, you have to go away.

The same with the summer...as long as it was hot last summer, that never existed...
Actually, I would have thought that the winter will then also crisp..but nothing there.

So there is a climate change, that is clear.

The whole thing is getting worse and worse I suspect. Was last week in Vegas. 4 cm high snow in the desert. Temperatures around +2 degrees. The Americans looked like the 8th wonder of the world, they didn't know what to do with the white stuff. On TV, they then said that you should please wear something, because cold and bare skin is not a good idea

Most of them didn't mind, there were still enough who walked with shorts and flip-flops over the strip.
