Nowadays, people report more and more crimes to the police than in the past.
This means that if you make a mistake, you are punished more quickly today than in the past.

An online report is written quickly.

That really scares me and puts me under more pressure.

Especially in road traffic, if you don't know the area, you can easily accidentally give way to someone.

Someone at work told me that. He would have reported someone immediately because they had taken his right of way. But apparently nothing even happened.

The world is getting crazier and crazier. I don't know what all the people who have to decide something are smoking or taking something else.

Because 8 weeks ago I also overtook a truck incorrectly and misjudged the overtaking maneuver. The oncoming traffic flashed their lights. But will I still get a charge after 8 weeks?

Regardless of the time that has passed, I would say probably not.

1. How often have you seen something like that outside of television, apart from once with your colleague? I never have.

2. Someone coming towards you or the truck driver should have noticed your license plate number... Unlikely.
And then feel like pressing charges. Only very specific people feel like doing that, it's unlikely that someone like that would have noticed your license plate number at that exact moment in a confusing situation.

3. If there was no ban on overtaking, it is in any case debatable whether there was dangerous overtaking, and in the end it may be a case of testimony against testimony, and the authorities would have to prove that you committed such an offense.

Of course, you can never rule anything out, but then you would have been very unlucky.

With over 0.5 charges or under 0.5 charges, I would immediately put 100 euros on under.
Even though I normally always bet on over... 😄

if the oncoming traffic was still able to flash their lights, then they had enough time to brake dangerously. You always have to reckon with the misbehavior of others and each of us has been in a hurry or had tomatoes on our eyes... usually it is even more dangerous to stop overtaking if, for example, the truck had also braked...

I just didn't know anything after the incident.

Whether there was an overtaking ban or only 80 km/h allowed.
I was a stranger there. In future, I won't overtake any more trucks on country roads where I'm a stranger.

But nobody had to brake hard, so that's a positive thing.

For such simple offenses, the police would act faster and not wait 8 weeks. Otherwise they won't be able to keep up with all the reports.

On a normal country road certainly 100 if you couldn't have turned off somewhere in the immediate vicinity then more like 70...
you just have to shift down into third next time and step on the gas pedal like a man until the rev limiter is reached & only then into fourth and never hesitate before overtaking..there are also nice truck drivers & buses that blink briefly to allow overtaking or blink in the other direction if they see more & otherwise it becomes dangerous....

if you tailgate or give the finger, people are more likely to report you because it's personal.
But I would never do something like that Neither would I honk. I always hate it myself when people have no patience and have to honk for a few seconds just because I don't know my way around these places and have to orientate myself first.
