Very good job by the actors and, what makes the series special, each episode was shot in a single take, without cuts or other "tricks".
I watched that too, and it really fascinated me.
The idea that after 20 - 30 minutes a mistake happens or something is wrong in the "sequence" and you have to shoot the whole thing again from the beginning is intense. Especially in one episode, the cross-fading / panning from one scene, with the drone, to the other scene, I thought that was really awesome.
Edit: But I actually found the story pretty boring

I think the story is kept extra simple, perhaps to give the whole thing even more reality.
For each episode, 4 weeks of shooting were scheduled in which each scene was played/recorded about 10 times. The best take was then used.

I also watched the episodes. I really liked the mini-series as it shows some social problems in a very impressive way. Very oppressive scenery on an even more oppressive subject. I didn't really get bored, if only because of the reference to reality. The murder itself is only the starting point to get into the subject.
It's not for nothing that this mini-series is being proposed to be shown in British schools and there are many debates about it. I think it's good that such topics are finding their way to the general public in this way. I was very pleasantly surprised.
