Information in the tax return

Hello,
i have a quick question for those who had to fill out a tax return. Did you declare wins from Online Casinos / sports betting (as non-taxable income) or did you generally ignore the information and not mention them at all?
I had gambled relatively much last year and therefore had high payouts, but much higher deposits. I am well aware that the tax office is only interested in the payouts.
Have you ever had any problems in this regard?
The only thing I am aware of is that wins only have to be taxed if you are considered a professional gambler.
Probably, professional gambler is a matter of interpretation of the respective court.

Simply do not declare anything! Especially not if your deposits are higher than your withdrawals then you have no income from it but expenses.
In addition, gambling winnings are tax-free in Germany. This also means that losses cannot be deducted from taxes. This is exactly the reason why the wins are tax free.
Another Tip on the side. Forget what is written in the press. Many journalists write themselves on the subject of gambling a garbage together that is no longer solemn

In Germany, there is no tax liability for winnings from online casinos. Winnings from a game of chance according to §4Nr.9b Ustg is not defined as income. From profits that are invested interest-bearing, are taxable.

If so, you are more likely to consult a tax advisor
Basically, even if you were a professional player, no one here will be able to help you - unless there is a tax advisor...
There are simply too many variables and especially key figures/values that would count
If your conscience is bothering you, then take about 100€ in hand and get advice - unless you already have one, then just ask him.
The self-appointed "Saxon" also called "Kesselglotzer Kaisan" Roulette player has once wanted to tax the tax office, then his lawyer has written back to the tax office that they can do that with pleasure if he can then offset his losses and deduct all the travel and maintenance costs. The result was ---- he has never heard anything more about this matter from the tax office.

At least theoretically, you would be on the safe side if you kept records of deposited and withdrawn funds from casinos.
If you had a big win and the tax office or any other authority would have questions about unusually high cash receipts on the account - so you could at least prove with proper accounting what you have paid in before.
In practice, hardly anyone will do this, me neither, but it might be worth considering.
