A little Tip from me, because I have good connections to the industry and have some insider knowledge.
If you play in arcades, you should not play all machines, because the AQ varies depending on the model. Here are the most common ones:
Novo Gaminator: good, but increasingly rare to find
Novo Superstar: good, but Superstar 3 is worse, better Superstar 1+2
Novostar: good, but hard to find
Löwenstar II: bad, especially for high players
Löwenstar I: good
Gigastar: bad, very high volatility
Löwenstar Premium: bad
Pantherstar: bad, gastro device
Crown: good, but again, worse. Crown is very highly volatile. Old Panoramas are the best, but hardly exist anymore.
Bally Wulff: bad, should be avoided. Bad technology, bad AQ
PsmTec "Maximus": bad, high balance 2, low odds
Merkur Magie: in the 2017 variant a disaster, increasingly worse odds as a Concession to the operators, the older the gaming system, the better
Merkur MBOX: very much to be taken with a grain of salt. Can pay out high, but mostly rather not so good.
Apex: good, high AQ, Risk ladder up to 200 EUR, but rarely encountered
JVH: bad, gastro device
You have to watch out with Merkur, because they recently offer variable AQ. This means the operator can demand a corresponding quota depending on the region and sales. I like the Risk ladder with them, but it is less and less fun to play Merkur, because the AQ start has lost. For ladder players Apex are the best machines, unfortunately, they are very rare.
You should also not necessarily play in pubs, especially Merkur offers guest variants here, which are less fun to play than in pubs.
Novo in pubs are OK if they are old ones. Novo is working on Gastovarianten, will be then also mieser.
Also critical is how long a device has been in service and whether internal math has been achieved. Optimally, a device is brand new or tuned in.
You should also look in the arcade what kind of audience plays and what games and how high they play. The higher, the better. Unfortunately, often the arcades in the worst areas are the best, because there is non-stop gambling and the devices sometimes have 15,000 EUR+ throw-in per month. From the Deposit a certain quota (cashin cashout) comes back as payout.
The quotas of arcade machines goes from 60(!)% up to approx. 85%. In the past up to almost 90%. It is important to understand that not all Merkur is the same and not all Novo is the same. The gaming systems differ greatly depending on the model.
This is a very rough outline, the matter is extensive and complex, but herewith you have a small decision support.

Thank you for the information. A fixed payout ratio has not been legally prescribed for manufacturers since 2005. But I would have thought that this should be at least 75%. If what you or the technician says is true, then 60% is a disaster! Even 85% is very bad. How can you win with these odds? At 60% you should soagar on 20 cents never be able to play longer than an hour, because actually always the 80€ hour limit is reached.

The Merkur machines in particular have been brutally reduced in terms of quotas in order to give the operators more cash and win back market share from the arch-enemy Novomatic.
The machines already have phases where they give good what, but those are just sparse.
Nevertheless, I have made many of my best profits in gaming arcades.
