We are about to go on our 2nd cruise,
I noticed on the last one that the slots don't have many numbers and you can't actually read anything about how much RTP is set for the slots, what else I noticed is that they are American slots, i.e. those offered in Vegas casinos. You won't find a book of ra there.... Does anyone know more about the RTP?
Depending on where the machines are regulated, it is also possible that the information with the rtp does not have to be displayed at all
Have you asked the staff there?
It depends on the cruise line. Most cruise casinos are subject to the regulations of the country in which the cruise line is registered, but I don't know if yours is required to display an RTP. There are many cruise lines and they probably differ slightly from one another.
Think about it, in German casinos there is also no obligation to display an RTP.
What's more, the rules/laws are a little more relaxed there anyway. You can see that they get around minimum wages and other laws.
I'll ask the local staff, but I doubt it will help...I once read something in an English-language forum that the RTP on cruise ships should be 70-80% ....
I'll ask the staff on site, but I dare to doubt whether that will help...I once read something in an English-language forum that the RTP on cruise ships should be 70-80% ....
We also have many nice and helpful members here, as you have fortunately been able to discover I hope you will return the favor after your return with a small "on-board gambling report", which probably not only I would like to read. Ship ahoy

I observed this on my last MSC cruise and would therefore also guess 80-85%
Did a little more research on reddit and found out that a ship falls under the laws where it docks. So if you dock somewhere where the casino would be illegal, then the casino closes accordingly. But if it's in the sea, then the laws of the country where the ship is registered apply - as I've already stated.
So I actually think that somehow a country was chosen where the laws are a little more relaxed. The employees will certainly not be able/want to give any precise details.
I also looked in the English section, but unfortunately you can't compare that, as most of them mainly write about American ships. I also estimate that the RTP will be closer to 80%.

"Traditional arcades, gaming arcades and gambling houses often operate their Slot machines with win rates that are well below 80%. Depending on the operator, the payout ratio on machines in pubs, petrol stations etc. can even be below 60%"

👋 I'll report back, but be patient - the trip doesn't start until the end of May!
Let me throw my suspicions into the room... When I recently took the ferry from Malta to Sicily, I saw the "casino" on board... There are only a few machines, but here it comes! The machines are switched off just before the coast of a country.
So as soon as the ship is in international waters - I think after 8 kilometers from the coastline - the laws of the countries probably no longer apply and the machines are switched on and you can gamble.
I believe in international waters (such as the Mediterranean) there are no regulations on RTPs and since casino machines with low RTPs are a good source of revenue for the shipping company, I would guess that the RTP is set really low to maximize profits - 80% might work out. After all, there is no competition on the ship and what else is a passenger supposed to do apart from gamble on a ship? Look out to sea?
It was similar on my recent vacation flight to Dubai with a stopover in Cyprus. In Malta, alcohol was served on the ground before take-off. During the stopover in Cyprus, different laws applied and there was no alcohol on the ground. Only when we were back in the air were the staff allowed to serve alcoholic drinks again.
It's not as if I made use of this, but I did see one woman getting quite upset that she didn't get a refill of wine during the 1-hour stay on the plane in Cyprus

I've just checked that the ferry takes just under 2 hours (1h 46min). It's really absurd that it also takes me 2 hours by plane from Nuremberg/Munich to Palermo I wouldn't eat on the ferry though, it's certainly unnecessarily expensive and if you arrive in Sicily in 2 hours anyway, you can find 100% cheaper alternatives. Do you even have a cabin there or do you really have to sit somewhere for 2 hours?
I've done a bit of research on reddit etc. and many have the assumption that you have better chances at the beginning of a cruise. I think it still depends on luck and you can always win/lose.
