so I'll try to answer the questions that have come up here
No organs will be transplanted and no drugs will be tested. Participation consists initially of a few questionnaires and memory tasks.
The actual study then consists of two decision tasks in different environments (simple tasks on a laptop)
The study is basic research to understand how frequent gaming can potentially affect daily decisions. Through the results, we hope to gain further knowledge about the circumstances that can possibly promote the development of a Gambling addiction
You do not have to be addicted to gambling to participate, it is sufficient to gamble frequently.
To pay, there are for the participation about 70-80€ in cash + at least 40€ in Amazon vouchers.
In addition, you have the chance to advance science and of course I'm happy to share everything I know about gambling and Slot machines from a scientific perspective.
If we can reimburse travel expenses I would have to clarify first.
If there are any further questions, feel free to write me!
VG
Ben
I think the study is already interesting.
I would also participate. However, since I also come from Saxony, it is not worth the effort. Should a train ticket or the travel expenses be reimbursed...I would be there.

In general, I'm really interested in the study, but first I have two questions:
Is this really explicitly about gambling in "halls" or does it also include gambling in Online Casinos?
And does it matter how long I've been at it? Not that here are only looking for people who have been playing for 5 years or more. Play, I can not keep up yet

I think that it is about Gambling addiction - whether online or offline should not matter. Best to call and ask friendly.

Hi Felix,
especially for the study, it would be good to play at least partially offline in the arcade
Regarding travel costs, we can reimburse up to a maximum of 31€ (day NRW ticket) per appointment if you are not from Cologne.
And of course, if you have any questions, you can always call us!
Many greetings
Ben

Our studies at the University of Cologne (like all other university studies) are scientific research funded by the federal government. This is therefore financed by taxpayers' money. Therefore, we only pay so-called "expense allowances". By participating, one supports basic university research and, in our case, a better understanding of addiction mechanisms. After all, that is a noble deed
