Hello all,
for research on Gambling addiction, the University of Cologne is currently looking for participants who regularly play slot machines. You don't have to be a gambling addict to participate, but you should play at least once a week. Below is our general information text about the study. If you are interested, you can write me here or send me an email, or give me a call.
I am looking forward to your feedback!
For a scientific study we are currently looking for participants who regularly play Slot machines in the arcade or casino.
The study will take place in the Biological Psychology Department of the University of Cologne as well as in a café and an arcade.
After a comprehensive explanation, the study includes psychological tests and questionnaires on the computer.
Participation takes about 5 hours in total. As an expense allowance, you will receive 10€ per hour and a performance-related bonus (min. 2*20€), which will be paid out in vouchers from a large online mail order company.
As a potential study participant, you should be healthy, between 18 and 50 years old, and regularly play slot machines in the arcade or casino.
Further inclusion and exclusion criteria will be clarified with you by telephone.
Are you interested? Then simply get in touch by message or telephone.

Of course, I have roughly informed myself about what this branch of science is all about. To be honest, I didn't even ask what the exact goal of this study was and how the study was conducted. I just made sure that the request I received was really from the University of Cologne and then gave my OK.
In the end, everyone can decide voluntarily if they want to participate or not. As far as I have read, no drugs are administered in this study - but I don't want to exclude that. Maybe the thread creator can say something about it?
If I lived in Cologne and the surrounding area and still gambled regularly, I would participate myself. In the end, Gambling addiction will be researched and possibly new knowledge gained to combat it. For me personally, it is an honor to be in a position to support such studies.

If the additional also the travel costs take over I would do that, but alone the train and bus tickets cost me 40 euro and for 30€ that is too stressful for me
But for people from Cologne this is surely good
One helps the research and gets still a pocket money

As a sufferer, you should take part. Not for the pocket money, but also to promote the development of new therapies that could possibly help me as a sufferer. As a sufferer, I would even accept minor expenses for this, because it is a good cause. The 50€ that you can "earn" there should not be the main motivation to participate. These are anyway in 20 minutes at the next Slot machine squeezed away.
