Dear Community,
i became aware of this forum through my work and have registered here on behalf of the Cologne Gambling addiction Center. Since I myself am neither a relative nor a sufferer, I did not know in which subforum I am correct, so probably in the general part
I would like to point out our offer to those affected. Although we are located in Cologne, we also offer nationwide online counseling at spielfrei.assisto.online. After a short registration with nickname and password you can leave us there data protection-conformal and anonymous messages with questions or suggestions or book dates. Every second Wednesday we offer at 5 pm a group chat which is still under construction. Tuesday and Wednesday you can catch us from 14:30 to 15:30 in the single live chat also without registration. We listen, offer support in finding a suitable counseling center in your area and other concerns related to gambling. If you are from the Cologne area, you are of course welcome to drop by directly.
In addition, we offer on our Instagram channel (https://www.instagram.com/suchtfaktor.koeln/) several times a week thought-provoking impulses, suggestions and more in connection with psychosocial health and (gambling) addiction. Feel free to drop by, you might find inspiring support for self-help. On the other hand, I am also happy about lively exchange and feedback.
Welcome.
find it positive that there is a contact person here.
I can only hope that advice will also be given here in the forum for future topics, because there are quite regular topics and the whole thing is not only serves to bring members on their own side.
Anyway welcome to GJ

Good news for the forum! Threads are opened at regular intervals in which players ask for help and describe their addiction, but usually lack the will and courage to take the decisive step...
I also believe that a sufferer who outed himself here and asked for advice, would first feel more comfortable if you give him your advice and assistance for the time being in this forum!
Of course, this only goes up to a certain point, before it then goes out to private and very personal conversations.
In addition, this would be helpful perhaps even for more people, than only for this single person, since everyone can read along and evtl the one or other advice for itself take!
In principle, I would doubt in the first place how well this organization understands me and whether I am in good hands there!
Because undoubtedly every affected person feels better understood when he talks to a like-minded person about it, than from strangers who only know the theory.

Anyway welcome to GJ
Hey Justin,
thanks for your hint, as far as possible I will read and participate here again and again.
So there is no misunderstanding: Our offer is not in any competition with GJ. We do not offer a forum or other community aspects for which we need calls or specifically members. The main difference and added value is the data protection of our platform, which is designed according to an online consultation. This is tied in Germany to many basics such as terms of use, etc.. Thus we offer the possibility with us an intensive consultation to take up. We can not offer this at GJ, because we have no influence on server location, data storage, etc..
So in summary, general participation and advice in the forum → yes
Individual and specific feedback and advice → no

Greetings
can you possibly describe your expertise here in a little more detail? at the moment i don't see anything that isn't already being done here by attentive users.
Someone from a Cologne university was also active here in the forum about 2 years ago. He was looking for test persons on the subject of Gambling addiction who would come to Cologne and participate in a study there. Travel costs and a Tip were paid. Some members here from the forum have also accepted the offer. Remind me just where I see this thread here from the Cologne Fachstelle für Spielsucht.

Hey RiverSong, I am also confident that there are some users here who have extensive self-experience. As far as I could see so far, the area of Gambling addiction seems to be very active and constructive. Last but not least, professional addiction support, just like self-help, lives from group offers and the exchange among those affected.
You write that you don't see anything that others don't already do, and I have the impression that you doubt the added value of a specialist. Am I right in this? If so, I would be interested to know where these doubts come from.
In general, there are some aspects of a specialist that can be both an advantage and a disadvantage. These include a different perspective, neutrality/demarcation, knowledge of help services, addiction theory and counseling expertise, experience, and more. I work as a social worker. My personal competencies come from various advanced trainings in the field of gambling counseling, as well as psychosocial counseling and many years of professional experience in working with behavioral addictions, especially gambling.

Exciting. In Cologne there are some universities, there is also small research in the context of master theses. The German Institute for Addiction and Prevention Research in Cologne also has occasional collaborations on the topic.

Many simply do not dare to do anything,
let alone open up to whomever.
I wish you much success in your work to help addicts and non-addicts.

That's right, I remembered it now.
But there was no feedback on what came of it.
