Live casinos have enjoyed increasing popularity for several years now. These are Casino games that are moderated by a human Croupier whose game actions are transmitted via livestream. This means that the croupier sits in front of a camera in a studio and plays live Roulette, Baccarat or Blackjack, for example. Players can then see what is going on in the gaming studio in real time from the comfort of their own homes and, if they feel like it, simply join in. It doesn't matter whether the casino fans are sitting in front of their home computer or are on the move and accessing the live casino with their smartphone or tablet PC.
For online casinos, the operation of live casinos is extremely complex and expensive. For the operation of a live casino not only several cameramen and croupiers are needed, but also a server or software room and its own live studio. Many online casinos cooperate with well-known software providers that specialize in live games, such as Evolution Gaming or Ezugi.
Since the new State Treaty on Gambling (GlüStV) came into force, banker games such as roulette, blackjack or baccarat are not allowed online in Germany. This means that no such games may be offered in live casinos either. In §22a GlüStV (virtual slot games) it states:
"Virtual machine games that correspond to Table games with bankers conventionally organized in casinos, in particular roulette, blackjack or baccarat, are not permitted."
