Insurance
Under certain circumstances, players in Blackjack have the option to buy insurance. The English term for insurance is "insurance". This is a kind of side bet. Insurance is intended to cover the eventuality that the Croupier has a blackjack when his first card is an ace. Of course, no Player is obliged to buy such insurance.
How does insurance work in blackjack?
Basically, insurance in blackjack works very simply. If the croupier has an ace on the first card, the player is given the opportunity to claim the insurance. The insurance is intended to cover the situation when the croupier gets a blackjack with the second card. In order to buy the insurance, the player must place a Bet in the amount of half of the original stake. If necessary, the bet amount can be less than half of the original bet - but never more.
Insurance pays out at a ratio of 2 to 1. Once the insurance is taken out by the player and the croupier actually hits a blackjack, the player receives double the amount from the insurance bet. In return, however, the player naturally loses his original bet.
Example: The player bets an amount of 5 Euros. The croupier hits an ace with his first card. Now the player can buy insurance for an additional 2.50 Euros. If the croupier actually gets a blackjack, for example if his second card is a king or a queen, the insurance pays out at a ratio of 2 to 1. In this case, since the insurance was "bought" for 2.50 Euros, the player will receive 5.00 Euros back. This is exactly the amount he originally wagered.
