Coin validator
A coin validator has the task of checking inserted coins in vending machines according to certain specifications. Such a coin validator is used not only in conventional Slot machines but also, for example, in cigarette or chewing gum machines. The aim is to detect foreign currencies or counterfeit money, among other things, and to sort them out accordingly. Coin validators are sometimes also referred to as "coin acceptors".
How does a coin validator work?
A coin validator checks the inserted coin for size, weight, thickness, minting depth and knurling, among other things. If the "test" is not passed, the coin acceptor refuses the inserted coin and returns it to the customer.
Basically, a decision can be made between mechanical and electronic coin validators. Mechanical coin acceptors have been the primary choice for slot machines up to the present day. In the meantime, however, coin acceptors have become so reliable that counterfeit money, foreign currencies and other undesirable coin values are usually detected directly.
