Caribbean Stud Poker

Besides Texas Holdem, Caribbean Stud is also a very widespread Poker variant. In some cases, this poker variant is also known as Tropical Stud or Oasis Stud. The special feature here is that the players do not compete against each other, but play individually against the bank. French playing cards of 52 hands are usually used here and the game is played at a semi-circular poker table.

How is Caribbean Stud Poker played?

The way Caribbean Stud is played differs in many ways from Texas Holden. In Caribbean Stud Poker, the Player makes a Bet before the game begins, which should usually be between 5 and 200 euros. After the Dealer has shuffled the deck, each player receives five cards face down. The dealer himself also receives five cards, with the fifth card being face up. As the game progresses, each player is given the option to either raise the bet by making a "Bet", or to drop out of the game. If the player drops out of the game, the bet made at the beginning is of course forfeited. If the player wants to increase his bet, he must at least double it.

Now the dealer reveals his cards. In order for the dealer, and thus the banker, to remain in the game, he must qualify. By this is meant that he must have at least one combination that has the rank of Ace-King. If he does not meet this requirement, then the dealer drops out of the game and all remaining players get their bets doubled back.

If the dealer meets the requirement, then the croupier's hand is compared to each player. In case the dealer's hand is stronger, the player loses all bets completely. However, if the player's hand is stronger, then the initial bet made is returned twice. In addition, any additional bets are paid out according to a set payout schedule. The most attractive is the Payout ratio of 100:1 for a royal flush. But even a straight (4:1) or a full house (7:1) can be really worthwhile for the player.

The Bank advantage in Caribbean Stud Poker is usually between 1.95 and 2.55%, depending on how the game is played.
