Bet limit
The new State Treaty on Gaming (GlüStV) came into force in Germany on July 1, 2021. Among other things, this treaty stipulates that each Player may wager a maximum of 1 euro per round on virtual Slot machines in online gaming arcades. According to the GlüStV, a higher round stake is no longer permitted. In addition, the German Gaming Act stipulates that there is a cross-provider monthly Deposit limit of 1,000 euros. This means that the individual player may not deposit more than 1,000 euros per month, even with several providers added together.
The aim of this comparatively strict deposit limit is to protect players from problem gambling. Section 1 of the GlüStV defines the objective of the treaty as being, among other things, to prevent the "development of gambling addiction" and, in parallel, to create the "conditions for effectively combating addiction.
Since the GlüStV came into force, some players from Germany have been specifically looking for online casinos without a 1 euro limit. However, it is a fact that many online gambling establishments are complying with the new legislation and have adjusted their betting options accordingly. Many Casino players criticize the newly introduced betting limit and find it too rigid. While financially well-off gambling enthusiasts could afford significantly higher stakes in some cases, players with limited financial resources are not well advised to use the maximum stake of 1 euro per spin. By way of comparison, a betting limit was also introduced in the UK in April 2019. However, this amounts to 2 pounds per spin, which corresponds to an amount of 2.35 euros.
